Held in the personal training area, with a 10-person limit, BoomCIRCUIT is a 45-minute full-body circuit workout with high intensity intervals and functional movements. The program is aimed to help you max out your cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Every class is highly varied to prevent fitness plateaus. *If you don’t have them, we sell boxing wraps (for $10) and offer glove rentals ($2/use) in the studio. These are mandatory for your own safety. Not required for BoomCIRCUIT or BoomCAMP classes.
Please arrive 20 minutes early for your first time. There will be a safety and introductory briefing that will commence 5 minutes before the class start time. This is compulsory for all first-timers. Unfortunately, if you miss this briefing, you will not be allowed entry into the class – so plan ahead! If you’ve been to that class type at boOm before, you have a grace period of 5 minutes. You will not be allowed to enter the workout room beyond 5 minutes past the class start time, even if you’ve arrived at the studio before. For the safety of our customers, and staff, we make no exceptions to this – the room is dark, there are weights and step boards on the ground, people are jumping, people are punching – it’s a real party, but late-coming can present a real safety risk so we ask that you respect our studio policies.
Delivered in a line originating from your chin, this may be the most versatile punch used both defensively and offensively. It can set you up for other power punches, and help you gauge the distance between you and your opponent. With its long reach and speed, this punch allows you to counter your opponent, and keep them at bay to give you a window to retreat or pivot away from peril.
Technique: Throw your jab in a straight line, starting at your chin, fully extending your front arm in one swift, sharp movement. Knuckles up, thumbs down!
With the torque generated from the rotation of your hips and shoulders, this is the perfect knockout punch. This punch acts like a wound up spring that drives forward towards your opponent, delivering power as it lands. It really is the “Pow” of the “Boom Boom Pow”!
Technique: As you extend your back arm fully, twist your back foot inward and rotate from your hips. You should end up with your thumb at the bottom of your clenched fist.
Surprise! This punch is sure to catch your opponent off guard, delivering a good balance of power and speed. A punch only heightened peripherial vision will catch, this is most effective when you are in close striking range of your opponent.
Technique: Keeping your elbows high and in line with your shoulder, this punch is thrown while your arm is bent at a right angle. Knuckles pointing forward, palms facing your face. Remember to twist your front foot in the direction of the punch.
Here’s another powerful punch that can knock out your opponent, but not without its own challenges. Originating from your back arm, it might not have the same speed as other punches, but if you find yourself within striking distance of your opponent, this punch can deliver one heck of a headache when it finally lands.
Technique: Similar to the front hook, but with your back hand and in the opposite direction. Don’t forget – keep your elbow high and twist your foot and hip inwards.
The front uppercut is another knockout punch when delivered perfectly. With that ever so slight dip and power driven upwards, if delivered straight to the chin, this can really throw your opponent off by disorientating and destabilizing him. If you’re close enough to smell what your opponent had for lunch, this is the move for you.
Technique: With a slight dip at the waist and keeping your palm facing your body, drive your front arm upwards towards the chin of your opponent. Pivot with your legs and hips to deliver more power with your uppercut.
Be most careful with this one, as it leaves you vulnerable and open to other punches thrown your way. However, it does serve well to destabilize the body of your opponent, giving you some time to execute your next knockout move. It works wonderfully paired with the front upper cut. And if both are thrown together with speed, you’ll be sure to force your opponent into retreat.
Technique: Similar to the front uppercut, drive your back arm upwards towards the body of your opponent. Remember to use your legs and hips to pivot.
